Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 April 2026

These terms govern the provision of therapy services by Headstart Mental Health, operated by Andrew Cheers. By booking and attending sessions, you agree to these terms.

1. Service Description

Headstart Mental Health provides private Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and primitive reflex integration therapy for children and adults. Sessions are delivered in person at In Motion Clinics, 137 Long Lane, Upton, Chester CH2 1JF.

Therapy is not a substitute for emergency medical care. If you are in crisis or experiencing thoughts of self-harm, please contact your GP, call 999, or contact the Samaritans on 116 123.

2. Booking Appointments

Appointments are booked by mutual agreement between you and the therapist. Session times are confirmed via email, phone, or message. Ongoing appointments are typically scheduled at a regular weekly time, though this can be adjusted by agreement.

3. Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed appointments without prior contact, will be charged at the full session fee.

We understand that emergencies happen. Exceptional circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

4. Fees and Payment

  • CBT sessions: £60 per session
  • Primitive reflex integration therapy: Please contact us for current pricing

Concessions may be available in certain circumstances. Please ask if you need to discuss this.

Payment is due at the time of each session unless otherwise agreed. We accept cash, bank transfer, and card payments. Invoices for missed sessions or late cancellations will be issued by email and are payable within 7 days.

5. Confidentiality

Everything discussed in therapy is treated as strictly confidential. Information will not be shared with any third party without your explicit written consent, except in the following circumstances:

  • Where there is a serious and imminent risk to your safety or the safety of others.
  • Where there is a safeguarding concern involving a child or vulnerable adult.
  • Where disclosure is required by law or court order.
  • For the purposes of professional supervision, where your identity is anonymised.

For full details on how your data is handled, please see our Privacy Policy.

6. Limitations of Therapy

Therapy is a collaborative process and its effectiveness depends on your active participation, including completing agreed tasks between sessions. While CBT and primitive reflex integration therapy are evidence-based approaches with strong track records, no therapist can guarantee specific outcomes.

The therapist reserves the right to refer you to another professional or service if, in their clinical judgement, an alternative form of support would be more appropriate for your needs.

7. Professional Standards

Andrew Cheers holds a BSc Hons in Psychology, a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Science. He is DBS checked, professionally insured, and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) for data protection.

All therapy is delivered in accordance with established professional and ethical guidelines.

8. Complaints Procedure

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the service provided, we encourage you to raise this directly with Andrew Cheers in the first instance, either in person or via the contact form.

All complaints will be acknowledged within 5 working days and responded to in full within 20 working days. If you remain dissatisfied following our response, you may contact the relevant professional body or regulatory authority.

9. Termination of Services

Either you or the therapist may end the therapeutic relationship at any time. Where possible, an ending session will be offered to review progress and discuss next steps. If the therapist believes that therapy is no longer beneficial or that another service would be more appropriate, this will be discussed with you openly.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or the services provided will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of our services following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
